Dr. Nikhil Ramesh Rao is a highly accomplished Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Specialist with over 10 years of combined clinical and academic experience in nephrology and internal medicine. Trained entirely at the prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, he possesses advanced expertise in clinical nephrology, kidney transplantation, dialysis management, glomerular diseases, and complex renal disorders.
He is widely recognized for his evidence-based approach and comprehensive management of chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury, hypertension related to renal disorders, transplant nephrology, and post-transplant infectious complications. His areas of special interest include transplant immunology, genetic renal disorders, glomerular diseases, and advanced renal care protocols.
Dr. Rao currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Nephrology at Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, where he actively contributes to undergraduate and super-specialty medical education, clinical mentorship, and academic nephrology training. He was also an integral member of the COVID-19 Task Force at K.E.M. Hospital during the pandemic, contributing significantly to patient management and critical care services.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Rao has an exceptional academic and research background with multiple publications in reputed international medical journals including Kidney International Reports, Indian Journal of Nephrology, Vaccine, Clinical Transplantation, and Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation. He is also an International Research Fellow of Glomcon and remains actively involved in scientific presentations, nephrology conferences, and advanced renal research initiatives.
